Overview: This course delivers a curriculum covering the flaws in active shooter profiling, prevention and preparation methodologies and practices, proper search and engagement methods, and basic emergency lifesaving practices.
Participants must complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam. Participants are expected to qualify on a standardized table of fire with a pistol.
Prerequisites: Current TX DPS PSB Commissioned Armed Security Officers assigned or scheduled to be assigned to School Security Officer billets; School administration and/or support staff; teachers.
Learning Outcomes: Individuals will gain a fundamental knowledge of applications of use of force in and around school and university campuses, as it pertains to active shooter events, history and development of modern practices, and practical application of best practices, based on real-world scenarios.
