SBSR provides individuals with the knowledge base to identify and rapidly respond to dangerous active threat situations in a school setting.
Prerequisites:
Preferred current TX DPS PSB Commissioned Armed Security Officers assigned or scheduled to be assigned to School Security Officer billets; School administration and/or support staff; teachers.
Description:
The SBSR curriculum delivers a mixture of classroom instruction and practical scenario-based exercises focusing on the history and prevalence of active shooter events, medical response considerations, preparing and conducting effective drills, and priorities of action. All training covers both individual and unified response applications in a school-based environment.

Learning Outcomes:
Individuals will gain the knowledge required to effectively identify, deter, and respond to school-based dangerous active threat situations, as well as develop and implement appropriate training for the same.
